What documentation do I need to travel to Guatemala?
• Passport required to enter the country
• Visa:
i. (A) Doesn’t need a visa
ii. (B) Consult the Embassy of Guatemala in your country
iii. (C) It’s a requirement to process a visa to enter the country.

Do I have to pay some additional taxes?
• In the flight from Flores to Guatemala City you have to pay US$.3.00 per person for exit tax.
• At the border from Guatemala to Copán, Honduras you have to pay Q 10.00 per person and from Copán, Honduras to Guatemala US$. 3.00 per person.

Local Currency?
The local currency in Guatemala are Quetzales, from Q.1.00, Q.5.00, Q.10.00, Q.20.00, Q.50.00, Q.100.00 and Q.200.00. US dollars are well accepted and most credit cards. We recommend using dollars or credit cards for meals and Quetzales for shopping in the markets.

Where can I exchange Money?
We recommend changing the US Dollars at the banks (the exchange rate is the best) or at the lobby of the hotels you will be staying. Otherwise you can have money from ATMs. The exchange rate is US$1.00 for Q.7.40 – Q.8.00.

Suggested tips and meals:
• Restaurants: the suggested tip is 10% for service, some restaurants already included.
• Bellboys and Housekeeping: US$.1.00 to US$2.00
• Guides: US$.5.00 to US$.8.00 per person.
How old is a child for Guatemalan Adventure?
For Guatemalan Adventure a child is considered from 3 to 11 years. Except for the tour to Tikal. In this case a child is considered in a range from 3 to 8 years.

What languages are available for the tours?
Guatemalan Adventure offers tours in Spanish and English. For Italian, German, French and Portuguese languages, there is an additional charge.

How far in advance should I book a tour?
For a day tour, it is necessary to make the reservation 24 hours before departure. For reservations of packages, it is necessary to make the reservation 72 hours before departure. Please consider that we are subject to availability. Therefore, we recommend to make the reservation in advance to guarantee it.

How can I pay? What are the payment methods?
The payment of the tours are made through our website, with a credit card. The methods are by credit card through our online payment system or by PayPal. If you want to make a deposit or bank transfer, you can communicate through the email

Does my reservation include any travel insurance?
Guatemalan Adventure has a collective liability insurance (RCDP), which assures the passenger, when they are specifically inside of the vehicle, for the injuries that they could suffer as a result of the traffic events.

Can I modify or cancel reservations already made on flight tickets, tours or hotels? What additional expenses can the changes bring?

In case of a modification of local flight, the penalty applies as follow:
• 3 days or more before flight US $. 30.00
• 1 day or less before flight US $. 100.00

Cancellation policy (Except Tikal Tour):
• More than 30 days before the trip: Charges on expenditures.
• From 29 to 15 days before: 50% refund
• From 14 to 10 days: 25% refund
• From 09 to 00 days: non refundable

When will I receive my booking confirmation?
When you make a reservation with Guatemalan Adventure, the confirmation will arrive immediately to your email. Except, when it is a tour to Tikal, the confirmation will arrive no later than 12 hours after your purchase.

What happens if I do not receive in 24-hour my booking confirmation?
In case you don’t receive the confirmation of your reservation. Please send an email to and we will follow up on your request.

Where are my plane tickets for the tour to Tikal? Can you send them to me?
The tickets will be sent to your email or directly to your hotel. It is not necessary to present the printed document, since they are also accepted on your mobile device.

How far in advance do I have to be at the airport?
For international flights you should be at least two hours before your departure in International Airport La Aurora and one hour and a half for local flights.

Do I have menu options, if I need a special diet?
In case you need a special diet, send an email to indicating the type of alimentation you require for your diet.

Can I do the tours if I have a medical condition?
You can contact us at, this will depend on your medical condition.

Should I bring special equipment for the trip?
We recommend that you bring light cotton clothing, comfortable shoes, waterproof jacket, swimwear and hiking shoes.

Are meals included?
• Breakfast included in all hotels, if you book it with us.
• If you take the Tikal or Yaxha tour, the lunch is included.
• In the case of the “one day tours” no meal included.

Which language do the driver speaks?
In Guatemalan Adventure we have Spanish speaking drivers and basic English. In case you need an English speaking guide let us know at the moment of your reservation your preference (this may have an extra charge).

How do I coordinate my transfer from the hotel?

I’m not staying in a hotel.What zones does Guatemalan Adventure picks up? Do you pick up at private homes?
Guatemalan Adventure offers the service of transport to private houses only in the zones 1,9,10,13,14 and 15.

At what time should I be ready for my Tikal Tour?
If you take the local flight from the airport and your accommodation is in the city, the pick up time is at 4:30-4:45am and if your accommodation is in Antigua Guatemala the pick up time is at 3:45-4:00am.

What do I do if my transportation at the airport does not show up? Who do I contact?
In case of the transportation is not present on time at the airport. You must contact us at (+502) 3262-6064 and we will solve the inconvenience as soon as possible.
