Description:
Discover the beauty of the ancient ruins of Copan on this overnight trip from Guatemala City! After a scenic drive in a comfortable vehicle, spend your first day at Copan in Honduras to explore its archaeological Mayan site. On your second day, visit Macaw Mountain Bird Park and Nature Reserve, a bird rescue, rehabilitation and release center. Located only 10 minutes away by vehicle from the central square of Copán Ruins, Honduras.
Itinerary:
Day #1 Copán:
07:00 AM: Early departure from Guatemala City to Copan (from Antigua Guatemala at 6:00 AM).
11:00 AM: Upon arrival, visit to the Mayan site of Copan or the “Kingdom of the Sun”, dates from the Maya Classic period (300 to 900 AD) where can still be seen several stone sculptures, specially dedicated to the ruler “18 Rabbits”who was beheaded in Quirigua Guatemala. Ceremonial temples can be seen as of the Inscriptions, the Popol Nah or Casa del Pueblo, the ball game and residential areas.
04:00 PM: Overnight accommodations in selected hotel in Copan.

Day #2 Macaw Mountain:
Macaw Mountain provides its visitors with a personal encounter with the fascinating birds of Honduras in a natural environment. Their large aviaries comfortably house our feathered friends and offer an almost-in-the-wild way of seeing birds. The park includes an outdoor information center where you can interact with some of the birds, take pictures with them and observe them closer. It is a relaxing, educational and very memorable experience, and with your visit you contribute to the achievement of the conservation objectives and reintroduction of macaws and other species to their habitat.
02:00 PM: Transfer to Guatemala City or Antigua for overnight accommodations (not included).
05:30 PM: Arrival to Guatemala City (Antigua Guatemala at 7:00 PM).
